Automata will screen Benni Quintero's enigmatic short video (8 minutes), titled "Past the sky, where the hat is: documentation of heavenly bodies" with moments from their time and process in the space. You will enter a secret world in the darkness, as Benni hints at their process of creating the special animated scenes for Jonni Phillip's upcoming feature film Barber Westchester (https://www.jonniphillips.com/barber). Barber Westchester is set to premiere Summer 2021.

Benni Quintero is an eclectic multidisciplinary artist born and raised in South Central Los Angeles. Benni's work has a focus in practical illusion, story telling, sequential image making, puppetry and performance. They recently graduated with a BFA in Experimental Animation from the California Institute of the Arts.
Their personal work is a coded guide that promotes internal reflection as well as exterior discussion on power, collage, and intersecting notions of identity.
Benni has exhibited mixed media sculpture/ installation /animation work in La Plaza de Cultura y Artes’ Mirame: Expressions of Queer Latinx art (2017) and Automata’s Dissolvng Sights exhibition (2019). They did practical FX and guest animation for the feature length animated film The Final Exit of the Disciples of Asencia (2019). In addition, their short animated films have screened world wide in the film festival circuit.
Benni is currently working on an array of projects exploring tactile animation.
