DanRae Wilson
Artist-in-Residence
May 1 – 14, 2023
DanRae Wilson is a lifelong Angeleno and multimedia artist whose work lies at the intersection of the uncanny body and the ephemera of the subconscious. An MFA graduate of CalArts, DanRae work centers around fiber arts, film, and puppetry.
DanRae’s residency was a meditation on the ephemera of divination and its intersection with the body:
What is the process of coming back to one's own creative work, in the midst of taking on parenthood and the changing landscapes of the current moment. Can one sit with the void, without attempting to extract meaning. what do the hands make in that stillness, what threads are pulled and plucked. And is it possible to revel in those threads of making that weave us into this moment, the future, and our earliest ancestors.
